North Down romped to a 7-1 win over derby rivals Down at the Comber Leisure Centre last weekend.

The home side is hoping to make a late run for one of the two promotion spots up for grabs and this win will have done them the power of good. North Down raced into a 2-0 lead with goals before Philip Moreland pulled one back for the visitors.

At the other end, dad Davy made a number of great saves to keep the rampaging home forwards at bay and he certainly had his work cut out. North Down started the second half in the same fashion as they ended the first; they were all over the visitors who simply had no answer to the wave of attacks which just kept coming their way.

The home side scored another four without reply to maintain the pressure on Saintfield and Lisnagarvey at the top of the table. This Saturday, the thirds entertain East Antrim seconds at Malone Park and they will be hoping to get back to winning ways.
