Two goals by Dougie Reid were enough to see off Down thirds in this Junior 7 derby clash.
The home side played well in parts and there are a number of young players who will be making their way up towards the seconds and firsts in the coming seasons.
One of them is goalkeeper, Stuart Clydesdale. He has been very impressive this season and is certainly one to watch for the future.
He covered himself in glory in the first half of the derby encounter when he pulled off a tremendous save to deny Reid after a penalty stroke was awarded for a Down defender stopping the ball crossing the goal line with his foot.
James Cunningham went close with one effort at the other end, but the derby tie ended scoreless at the interval.
Reid blasted home the first of his brace within minutes of the restart, but Trevor Lennon's side refused to throw in the towel and the highly impressive Stephen Fitzsimons made it 1-1 when he scored from open play.
Stephen Strain and Richard Tarbotton, two more of Down's rising crop of young stars, played well in the second period, as did Clifford Lennon, who was asked to mark the experienced Davy Hobbs.
Reid scored again and there was no way back for the home side which is making its first appearance in the league after a three-year absence.
The performances of the younger players also provides great hope and optimism for the future. The experience they are currently getting will prove invaluable in the years to come.
